This is our second article outlining More Top 1980’s Sex Comedies You Haven’t Seen that ranks some of the lesser-known Sex Comedies of the 80’s. You can see our previous article on the Top 1980’s Sex Comedies You Haven’t Seen and our list of the Top 20 films from this period of time in our article of The Best 1980’s Sex Comedies.
We have included below the text outlining criteria for our lists and additional information on the films that did not make any of our lists (but are worth checking out by fans or completists of the subgenre).
For these articles, we’re going to use similar rules we used for our Best Of article. First, we’re only including films that feature sex as the main narrative of the film. There are quite a few Teen & College Comedies of the 1980’s that fall right on the border of a sex comedy vs. coming-of-age film. If you don’t see that film here, you can also check out our entire list of Teen & College Comedy Films.
Second, though some classic Raunchy Comedies of the 1980’s feature sexual scenes or nudity, they often do not qualify as a pure Sex Comedy. Examples of these films (that we also had to leave off of our Best Of list) include Airplane! (1980), Caddyshack (1980), Diner (1982) and so on. Airplane is more a Parody film with some nudity, Caddyshack would quality more as a Raunch Sports Comedy and Diner as a Coming-of-Age Drama film (though it has one of the most popular Sex Comedy-like situations in the film involving a movie theater and popcorn).
Finally, as we get into the B and C tier of Sex Comedies, many of these films simply are not good, well-made and painful to watch. A good portion of these films suffered from low budget, horrible acting and simplified storylines that often replicated more popular films of the subgenre. In short, quite a few of these films were made to capitalize on the success of the subgenre in the 1980’s. As a result, we’re only considering films with a 4.0/10 or higher rating. So, though you might have found memories of a rare 80’s Sex Comedy you saw when you were younger, if it’s not listed here, it’s likely better to leave that film where it belongs – in your childhood memory.
Our complete list of Raunchy Comedies & Sex Comedies features over 341+ films from 1972 – 2023. As mentioned previously, you can find our list of the Best 1980’s Sex Comedies here. For the Sex Comedies that did not make either of our “Films You Haven’t Seen” subgenre lists, these include Pinball Summer (1980), The Vals (1982), Joysticks (1983), Screwballs (1983), Oddballs (1983), Hot Dog: The Movie (1984), Joy of Sex (1984), Lovelines (1984), The Sex O’Clock News (1985), Hamburger: The Motion Picture (1986), Perfect Timing (1986), The Women’s Club (1986), The Boss’ Wife (1986), Personal Services (1987) and Casual Sex? (1988). All of these films are B and C tier films of the subgenre and are only worth viewing for fans and completists of the 80’s Sex Comedy subgenre.

Stuck on You!

Plot: A couple with marriage problems goes to Family Court, where a judge takes them back in time to view lovers through the ages.
KBZ’s Take: We’ll start off by saying this film was made by Lloyd Kaufman of Troma Films. Though Troma typically specializes in unique crude and gross-out humor, it’s toned down a bit for this film. The film is more a bunch of sketches strung together (some very funny, some not) with a typical Sex Comedy plot. However, it is worth seeing for some of the sketches, but you’ll have to wade through some unfunny parts of the film to get to them.

Pink Motel

Plot: A couple who own and run a cheap motel have to put up with an assortment of weirdos and perverts who rent rooms there on a Friday night.
KBZ’s Take: This film has received a low rating due to the misconception that it’s a full-out raunchy Sex Comedy (based on the title of the film and cover art). What the film is are four stories that take place in a motel. While each individual story revolves around sex, some are more talkative (like the man and his mistress) where others are funny and more sexually oriented such as the football player who is still a virgin. This isn’t the greatest Sex Comedy by any means, but it’s a rare film of the subgenre that’s worth watching by fans and completists.

Plot: A young architect finds himself in a situation that he never had to deal with before – now that he is successful (and married), sexy young women are throwing themselves at him!
KBZ’s Take: This is one of the more ‘adult’ Sex Comedies of the 1980’s that focuses on a couple whose marriage has lost its fire. Basically, the film diverges into two separate storylines as the husband (David Naughton) goes to Mexico for sex while the wife (Jennifer Dale) and her children go on a winter vacation with some unexpected results. The film has some funny moments and takes a more heartfelt look at a couple trying to keep their marriage together. Naughton and Dale are the keys to the film and their performances make the film worth seeing.

My Tutor

Plot: High school senior Bobby Chrystal fails his French class, which will block him from entering Yale. His rich, authoritarian father hires an attractive 29-year-old to tutor Bobby over the summer and help him pass a make-up exam. While Bobby’s friends lead him away into strange excursions aimed at losing their virginity, Bobby finds all the extracurricular activities he needs with his new tutor.
KBZ’s Take: This is another ‘mail jailbait’ teen sex fantasy film on our lists and it sits somewhere in the middle of those types of films. While it’s not as sexually deviant as Private Lessons (1981) and doesn’t focus on more mature themes found in Class (1983), it is one of the more well-known films of its type due to quite a bit of nudity and sex. It also has Crispin Glover in a supporting role so worth checking out by fans and completists of the subgenre.

Plot: Four college co-eds travel to Fort Lauderdale for their Easter week of Spring Break, and become involved in a series of adventures and misadventures
KBZ’s Take: Another beach-themed sex comedy from the 80’s, this film focuses on four female co-eds (as opposed to most of the male dominated films of the subgenre). While the themes in the film are a bit dated (even for 80’s nostalgia), it’s still a film worth checking out if you want to see every film of the subgenre (and one that is mildly interesting throughout).

My Chauffeur

Plot A feisty young woman accepts a mysterious offer to become a chauffeur for a Beverly Hills limousine business, much to the chagrin of her older male coworkers and the disbelief of her customers.
KBZ’s Take: This film will likely be enjoyed more by fans of Deborah Foreman. As one of the more popular 80’s teen stars – Valley Girl (1983), Real Genius (1985) – Foreman brings a free spirit vibe to the film. Full of other wacky characters, My Chauffeur is more of a zany Romantic Comedy than Sex Comedy but still worth checking out. Fun note: You might notice Flash Gordon himself (Sam Jones) as the second lead to Foreman. That’s his real voice in this film versus his voice which was dubbed for the 1980 film.

Plot: A group of varied misfits (including a former prostitute/stripper and a bumbler who can’t see more than 6 inches in front of his face) enter a school to become flight attendants. Somehow, the group makes it through to the final test: a cross-country flight.
KBZ’s Take: This film has some very divided reviews with people either loving it or hating it. While it does follow in the formula of other films like Police Academy (1984), Moving Violations (1985), etc. we still think it’s a film with some very funny moments. It does have many of the elements of the Sex Comedy subgenre (nudity, raunchiness, etc.) but it’s much funnier as a Slapstick-type comedy that you can turn your mind off and enjoy.

Plot: Jack and his buddy Ben check in at a posh Florida resort, planning to spend every hour in hot pursuit of gorgeous babes. But their plans hit a major detour when they try to bed the wife of a conniving jewel thief. They’ll have to outsmart him, a nasty security guard and an obnoxious jock if they’re ever going to get a moment alone with the girls of their dreams!
KBZ’s Take: This film usually isn’t mentioned along side some of the more popular Sex Comedies of its time despite having two leads (Johnny Depp, Rob Morrow) who would become stars. While the plot of the film isn’t anything new for films of its type, it does have some funny scenes and overall silliness to it that’s much better than other B-tiered films of the subgenre.

Plot: Sam Kehoe moves from Seattle to a new school in California. Trying to make friends, Sam manages to free up the honeymoon suite in his dad’s motel so his friends are able to use the room for sex.
KBZ’s Take: A very under the radar and obscure subgenre film, Paradise Motel should have been more well known. Though it follows many of the same film tropes of similar “new high school kid in town comedies”, there are some surprisingly good performances in the film and a well-defined, underlying message. Gary Hershberger, Robert Krantz and Jonna Leigh Stack all give great performances around a message of being yourself versus trying to impress friends who take advantage of you. Recommended film of the subgenre.

Plot: Two teenage Australian girls seek acceptance with the cool surfing crowd.
KBZ’s Take: Though the title of this film would make one think it’s a Sex Comedy, it’s much more nuanced than that. The film is more like the female coming-of-age themes of Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982). While it’s not as funny or dramatic as that film, it’s still an engaging look at early 1980’s teen surf culture in Australia (and it’s similarities to the U.S.). Recommended for fans of the subgenre.
