Ok so you’ve seen Caddyshack (1980) and There’s Something About Mary (1998) 100 times, but now you’re looking for some new raunchy, adult humor comedies to check out. We’ve got you’re back with this list of a few forgotten 80’s coming-of-age sex comedies and more recent sex comedies you might have missed from the last 20 years.
One thing these films have in common? They’re almost all R-rated and not for kids. However, if you’re looking to relive your youth watching Animal House (1978) or Porky’s (1981) while your parents were asleep, these hilarious films will hopefully bring back those fond memories.

Though most of these films are R-rated in nature, the compilation video below shows more tame scenes from these movies (though it was hard to find scenes that weren’t raunchy or featured more adult humor content). We’ll also be compiling future lists that feature rare sex comedies from the 80’s and an additional list that focuses on more recent entries from the latest wave of raunchiness that has invaded film.

Plot: A female high school journalism student goes undercover as a male at a rival high school.
KBZ’s Take: Often overlooked Teen Comedy that trades the raunchiness for more gender swapped-based comedy. However, this still has loads of laughs especially from Billy Jayne as Buddy (the younger sex starved brother of his now male impersonating sister). Be on the lookout for William Zabka of Cobra Kai in yet another role as the main high school bully (Karate Kid and Back to School being the other films with Zabka as the lead bully).

Jexi
Plot: Phil’s new phone comes with AI…that unexpectedly wants her all to himself.
KBZ’s Take: The raunchy, sex comedy cousin to the Joaquin Phoenix film Her (2013), Jexi has some hilarious (and hard R-rated outrageous laughs) in it. Adam Levine seems to have a “love him or hate him” rep but he’s great in this film especially once he realizes the AI on his phone will stop at nothing to destroy his life.

Plot: A man and his friends are transported back to the 80’s where they relive a night of major decisions.
KBZ’s Take: Very funny retro-80’s comedy that mocks many 80’s sex comedy tropes. Hair metal? Check. Sex themes? Check. Hilarious movie? Check.

Up the Creek
Plot: Four college losers are forced to participate in an intercollegiate raft race.
KBZ’s Take: This film often gets confused with Hot Dog… The Movie (1984) as both films came out in 1984 and were ‘R-rated college sports themed’. However, Up The Creek actually holds up well 35+ years later. It’s much funnier, has better acting, has Tim Matheson basically reprising his role as Otter from Animal House (1978) and of course has Chuck The Wonder Dog.

Role Models
Plot: Two salesmen are ordered to perform community service in a mentorship program.
KBZ’s Take: Basically a Judd Apatow movie without Judd Apatow. If you enjoyed Knocked Up (2007) or The 40 Year-Old Virgin (2005), Role Models has similar humor and heart. It also gets credit for somehow mashing together LARP and KISS in a hilarious final.

Waiting…
Plot: Employees at a casual dining restaurant chain deal with various customers while pranking each other.
KBZ’s Take: For anybody that has worked at Applebee’s, Olive Garden or any casual dining restaurant chain, the situations from this film will resonate 100%. Though a funny movie in its own right, it’s much funnier for people who’ve experienced these situations firsthand.

Plot: Teenagers get caught up with sex, drugs and work while also becoming rivals over a romantic interest.
KBZ’s Take: One of the earlier teenage / coming-of-age sex comedies on the 80’s, The Last American Virgin has a paint-by-the-numbers first 2 acts similar to most other sex comedies. Where it diverges and becomes its own special film, is how it treats the 3rd act and an ending which is more of a reality than most people are expecting.

Plot: A pair of buddies try to stop their best friend from marrying the wrong woman.
KBZ’s Take: If you haven’t seen this film yet, then you’re missing out. It’s worth your time if only to see the idiot friends played by Steve Zhan and Jack Black. While there are a few funny moments when they’re not on screen, they transform the film from forgettable to must watch.

Plot: A college slacker who relishes his role as top dog, realizes he’s afraid to graduate when he meets an investigative journalism student.
KBZ’s Take: Many have tried but most have failed at becoming the successor to Animal House (1978). Van Wilder is one of those top contenders (and we’ll have a separate List soon on those films vying for the Animal House crown). On its own merits, Van Wilder does a great job balancing the raunchiness with romance though it’s mostly due to Ryan Reynolds charisma and knack for comedy.

Plot: Ambitious high schooler falls for his new neighbor – unaware that she used to be a porn star.
KBZ’s Take: This film is hard to define even with a basic plot line. Yes, it’s a teen sex comedy but it’s also one of those films that has a certain something to it that takes it above most films of the same ilk. Emile Hirsch and Elisha Cuthbert have great chemistry in this film, but it’s also made special (and funnier) by some of its supporting cast – namely Timothy Olyphant (as a sleazy porn producer) and Chris Marquette and Paul Dano (as the best friends). It’s a film you have to suspend belief for but at the end you’ll be glad you’ve seen it.
