The story of Archie Grey Owl, a trapper in 1930s Canada, to whom an Iroquois woman turns for knowledge of her people's traditional way of life. She persuades him to swap trapping and hunting for environmental activism, and to write about life in the wilds, but a lecture tour in England leads to his secret being revealed.
